Internet Service Providers

Internet Service Providers or ISP is a company that provides a user access to the internet. The method that is used to connect you to the internet is by either a phone line or by a broadband connection. ISPs usually charge a user for their service, the amount depends on the speed of the internet or the extras they receive with it such as phone deals or TV deals.

ISP

Examples of ISP include Virgin and Sky. There is much competition between these two in the market; they both are attempting to attract more customers by providing better deals than the other.

The offers Sky are providing is first of all 12 months free broadband with a £100 M&S voucher. Another bonus they have is that when someone introduces a friend to the service, they will get £100 reward of any voucher they desire.

A third benefit of being with Sky is that they offer 25% off TV for 12 months along with free broadband for 12 months. These offers usually come with a 12 month contract and up to 17mb broadband speed. Line rental can also be taken with the bundle for a price of £14.40.

Now, Virgin have offers just as good although a completely different range. They are known for having fiber optic broadband, which is a material used for connecting that works much faster than usual broadband.

First of which deals are offered is lowered price on broadband for 12 months and free installation. With this they offer Netflix free for 6 months and TiVo with 130+ TV channels. This is £20 for the first 12 months and £30 after that. The broadband comes with speeds of up to 152mb on an 18 month contract.

Web Hosting Services

A web hosting service provider is a service that provides customers with space on the internet to host. They are charged for the space regularly. They are mostly used to host web sites, but also can be used for files or other personal information.

Web Hosting

For a website to be on the internet, they must be hosted by a server provided by a web hosting service.

Within web hosting, there are a few types. These include shared web hosting, dedicated web hosting and virtual private server hosting. Shared web hosting is when numerous web sites are using the same server. Dedicated web hosting is when a server is used by only one web site. Virtual private server hosting is when a web site is hosted by a unique server so that it isn’t accessed by the web sites of other customers.

The first example of a web hosting service is iPage. The advantage of using this web hosting service is that they provide a user with unlimited disk space and unlimited transfer per month. The price of hosting a website under this service is very cheap at $1.89 and the domain name is free. The disadvantages of this web hosting service is that it doesn’t have any advanced features as it was designed to help new users, so the advanced more skilled users wont be able to do much. Another disadvantage is that the service can be slow and the service can go down from time to time.

The second example of a web hosting is InMotion Hosting. The advantages of using this hosting service is first of all that a user gets free SSD, the service also has a 90 day money back guarantee. The disadvantage of this web hosting service is that its prices are higher than other hosting services.

Domain Structures

This is another piece of the architecture within the worldwide web that supports it to keep it functioning. This is the information found on the web address, the computer reads from left to right. This structure can be broken down to what’s known as top-level domains. Most known top-level domains are .com, .org and .net. They can also be found as a country code, for example .uk, .us or .pl.

Capture

The role of the domain is to give an ID to a website. This is used to find the website on the internet. The reason these are preferred over IP addresses is because it is a lot easier to remember. The reason for this is because the domain is written in a way for humans to understand, whereas the IP address is for the computer to understand.

When deciding a domain name, a user must think of how easy it can be remembered. The reason for this is because when people visit, if the domain name is easy to remember a person can easily re-access the site. If the domain name is complicated, the user will have to go through many steps to find it again if they do not remember the domain name.
