Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is the 2nd generation of the World Wide Web. This focuses on the ability of users sharing online. Web 2.0 shows the change from still HTML to a more diverse and user friendly layout.

Ajax

Ajax is one of the most important components of Web 2.0. The Ajax is software on the web that provides the ability to create applications in extreme details just as found in Windows-based applications.

Wiki

A wiki is a web application found in Web 2.0 which gives users the ability to access, edit and share information that is displayed to the internet which can then be seen by anyone accessing the website.

The purpose of a wiki is to share valuable information between people, allowing them to edit and improve or include anything missed out on a specific subject. In most wikis, to edit the information a person would need to be either signed up with the website and have information checked when they are updating it. Otherwise, some wikis don’t require signing up and a user can edit information, however it will require the information to be checked.

A famous example of a wiki is Wikipedia.org.

Blog

A blog is a website where a person displays data or files for people to view. A blog can include a variety of types of data such as images, texts, URLs, etc. The purpose of a blog is so that a person can share information and opinions on subjects of their desire.

Social Networking

This is another component of Web 2.0. This is vastly popular around the globe. Almost everyone that has access to the internet will be a part of a social networking site.

Examples of social networking sites include Facebook, twitter and Instagram.

Online Applications

Google doc is an example of an online application. Google docs allow cloud storage and many a type of application is available on the system. Theses include applications that are similar to Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Although everything is saved online, the document can be accessed even without connection to the internet, and also can be edited.

The first screenshot shows Google docs. This is similar to Word, and can also be converted into a word document.

The second screenshot is of Google slides. This, just like PowerPoint, can be used to create presentations and slide shows. It can also be converted into a PowerPoint file, and can be accessed from there.

The third screenshot displays Google forms. This is an application that allows a user to create forms, it includes all the details that a form can have; the form can then be put together by user by using all the features. This makes creating forms very efficient.
